With the modern clean beauty movement promoting the use of presumably safe, natural cosmetic additives, and beauty scientists endorsing the use of some chemicals for skincare and beauty, it can be difficult to sort out fact from fiction with competing information. We can't tell you what the safest products are, but we can tell you how centuries of beauty history show the need to be a conscious consumer, and how beauty science has and has not made makeup safer and less toxic for us and the environment.
