For Day 4 of my 30-day challenge, I tried a collage style inspired by Henri Matisse.
Later in his life, Matisse stopped painting and began cutting coloured paper instead,
not because it was easier, but because it was the only way he could keep creating.
That’s what I love about collage.
You don’t need to “know how to draw.”
You just need to respond to shapes.
This piece is inspired by the swifts that used to fly outside my window in Barcelona.
Every morning, matcha in hand, I’d watch them disappear into the buildings.
I loved this process: cutting, rearranging, changing my mind.
This is a style I’d recommend to anyone who thinks they’re “bad at art.”
