In general, an electronics circuit consists of many discrete elements. In this video, You will find a detailed concept of active elements and passive elements, Discrete components in electronics.
Discrete Component: A single element (circuit) electronics device or a component with just one circuit element.
Discrete components can be of two types:
1) Active Components.
2) Passive Components.
Active Component: Circuit elements which can enhance the energy level of signal passing through it.Or Circuit element which supplies energy to the circuit in the form of voltage or current signals.
Passive Components: Circuit elements which do not generates power, but instead store, dissipate and/or release power.
Examples of active elements: Transistor, diode, voltage source, etc.
Examples of passive elements: Resistance, Capacitor, etc.
