Commissioned by Raja Bir Singh Deo between 1614 and 1623, this seven-story palace was constructed to welcome his friend, Mughal Emperor Jahangir. Despite its grandeur, neither the emperor nor any royal ever resided here, leaving the palace untouched for over 400 years .

Datia Palace stands as a testament to Indo-Islamic architecture, seamlessly blending Rajput and Mughal styles. Remarkably, the structure was built entirely of stone and bricks, without the use of wood or iron. Its 440 rooms, intricate carvings, and symmetrical design have inspired architects worldwide, including Sir Edwin Lutyens, who incorporated elements of its design into New Delhi's North and South Blocks .
