Subject, object and predicate sentence with answers
Place or thing in a sentence is subject and say something about that person or thing is predicate. In a sentence ask the question ‘who’ or ‘what’ and the answer is the subject. The subject is always a noun or pronoun. There is no subject in an imperative sentence.

The remaining part other than subject in a sentence is called a predicate. The predicate is divided into two parts, i.e. verb and object.
When asking a question ‘what or whom’ to the verbs, then the answer is object. Object generally comes after the subject. The second noun or pronoun in a sentence is an object. In some sentences there
are no object.

Exercise # 1: Subject and predicate identification

1. A friend of mine gave me the good news.
Subject: A friend of mine
Predicate: Gave me the good news.

2. Go upstairs with him.
Subject: (You)
Predicate: Go upstairs with him.

3. Is that enough for you?
Subject: That
Predicate: Is enough for you

4. My father and my uncle were teachers.
Subject: My father and my uncle
Predicate: were teachers.

5. I can do everything for you.
Subject: I
Predicate: can do everything for you

Exercise # 2: Subject and object identification

1. Apu loves ice cream.
Subject: Apu
Object: ice cream.

2. I was not present.
Subject: I
Object: No object

3. Ritam wants to be a teacher.
Subject: Ritam
Object: a teacher.

4. It is very important.
Subject: It
Object: No object

5. Anurupa gave me this book.
Subject: Anurupa
Object: this book.
