For almost a year, leather craft has been my after-work hobby. I’ve made wallets, small goods, but never a leather watch strap… until a colleague asked: “Can you make one for my smartwatch? The rubber band drives me crazy.”

I didn't know how to make a leather watch strap. I’d never made a strap before — but I said, “Why not try?”

He didn’t need it urgently, so I worked on it slowly in my spare time between my 9–5 job. No rush. Just evenings and weekends. Three months later, I finally finished it…

It was close to Christmas time and office ran a Secret Santa event.
…And then I realized something wild: *I was his Secret Santa.*
So instead of selling it, I wrapped it up as a gift. He had no idea it was from me until he opened the box.

What I’d do differently next time:
Choose better leather combo (face too stiff, back too soft)
Add reinforcement at spring bar area (critical for durability!)
Take more time with edge finishing (rushed = uneven)
