Le Palais du Reichstag (Diète impériale) est édifié de 1884 à 1894 sur la Koenigsplatz à Berlin, aujourd’hui Place de la République. L’édifice est l’œuvre de l’architecte Paul Wallot et fut financé comme pour la Colonne de la Victoire par les indemnités de guerres françaises après la guerre franco-prussienne.
Siège du parlement de l’Allemagne unifiée depuis sa construction jusqu’à aujourd’hui, il symbolise l’unité allemande. Ses quatre tours symbolisent les quatre royaumes de l’Empire allemand : La Prusse, la Bavière, la Saxe et le Wurtemberg. Son dôme de fer, plus haut que le dôme du Château de Berlin (résidence impériale) et situé au-dessus de la salle des séances, symbolise le parlementarisme.

The Reichstag building (Imperial diet) was built from 1884 to 1894 on Koenigsplatz at Berlin, today, Platz der Republik. The building was designed bu Paul Wallot and was financed, like the Victory Column, by French war reparations, after the Franco-prussian War.
Seat of the united Germany’s parliament since its construction until today, it symbolizes the German unity. Its four towers symbolize the four kingdoms of the German Empire : Prussia, Bavaria, Saxony and Württemberg. Its iron dome, higher than the Berlin Palace one (residence of the Emperor) and placed above the debate chamber, symbolize parliamentarism.
