Let’s talk about circulating tumor DNA (Signatera is one of the tests available to look for ctDNA) and the results of the ZEST Trial presented at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium which asked the question - can adding niraparib to patients w TNBC or BRCA mutated HR+ BC with a positive ctDNA and no radiologic evidence of disease prevent or delay a recurrence. However, the study was terminated due to very low numbers of positive ctDNA and half of the patients who had a positive ctDNA had radiologic evidence of disease so while niraparib did prolong recurrence free interval (time without recurrence), the numbers are too small for any meaningful analyses or conclusions.
