These waterfalls and the El Patriarca tree trail are located near Chagres National Park. The larger of the two, the Romeo waterfall, is deep and not recommended for children. The smaller Julieta waterfall is suitable for the whole family. It's important to be aware of changes in the weather, as Chagres National Park experiences a lot of rain and rivers tend to swell very quickly. Take precautions. Chagres National Park, located between the provinces of Panama and Colón, has 139,000 hectares of forest and is the largest water supplier for the central region of the country and La Chorrera. It is also the main source of water for the rivers that flow through it and serve the Panama Canal. For years, the land where this large, 30-meter-high tree, more than 550 years old, is located was devastated by logging groups; however, local people curiously report that "it seems as if the tree is hiding."
