Ever wondered what heel height is best for your ballroom dance shoes? If so, this video is for you!
Insights Into Ballroom Dance Shoes is a 3-part video series focusing on some major topics about dance shoes. This episode focuses on the various types of heel types, shapes, and heights. We also cover a couple of viewer questions so stay tuned!
The two most common heel types are slim and flare. The slim heel, also known as a stiletto, is a straight line down. The flare heel flares out at the bottom - like the pants in the 70s. Generally, we recommend a slim heel for Latin and Rhythm, and a flare heel for Smooth and Standard. For heel heights, there are a ton of variations depending on what brand of shoe you wear. For Aida, women’s shoes range anywhere from 2cm-3.5cm. Men’s shoes range from 2cm-4.5cm. The “correct” heel height is whatever suits your needs best. There is no one perfect heel height. If you’re unsure which heel height is best for you, drop a comment below!
