Piriformis syndrome is very frustrating.
The piriformis muscle is small but it can trigger intense spasms and sciatica.
The internet is full of piriformis stretches but too much stretching can cause this muscle to tighten up, even more, aggravating the pain and sciatica.
The reason I prefer these gentle and “indirect” stretches is that… when the piriformis muscle is tight and spasming, doing aggressive stretching only aggravates the pain.
These stretches are gentle and they'll indirectly relax the piriformis. We'll be releasing the surrounding muscles and only targeting the piriformis a few times to not overdo it.
