After scouring through forums and all kinds of stuff- I wish someone would ahve just made Just wanted to make a video of my current retro gaming setup. In the future I'd like a new TV stand, a SCART switch, a couple more consoles (like Atari), and to mod my NES for RGB. Oh, and some more flash carts. Getting to be an expensive hobby!
Basically there are two major components here, since we all want the "best". The best video quality/connections, and the best TV.
1. What's the best connection for my old consoles? The answer is RGB (even better than S-video). So we need RGB cables, and a display that will input RGB. (And sometimes we need to mod our consoles to output RGB)
2. What's the best TV for my old consoles? Well, that would be a broadcast monitor like Sony PVM or BVM series. These monitors went for thousands of dollars and they stopped making them not too long ago. These will really show you what the system were hiding under their hood (for better or worse...)
Here are the links to the items I have so, that you need for a proper RGB setup:
1. Cerwin Vega XD3 Powered Desktop Speakers (or similar speakers, but make sure they're powered): http://amzn.to/1TbBW9K
2. Audio extension cables (extend from speakers to breakout cables) http://amzn.to/1slj4M2
3. SCART "Breakout" Cable: http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-532...
4. Sony PVM 20L5 Monitor: http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-532...
5. RGB Cables (to go from breakout cable, to your systems) http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-532...
That's everything you need for a sweet setup! Let me know if you have any questions
