Then, Yunqin Liu, a doctoral researcher in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at HKUST, presents an end-to-end Smart Predict- then-Optimise (SPO) framework that embeds the optimisation problem directly into the training of the forecasting model using differentiable optimisation techniques.
