New 8-passenger Jig-back Tram
We were able to realize a new 8-passenger aerial tramway for the Oberhasli AG power plants in the fall of 2011
The installation is used for winter-proof access to a power plant in the Grimsel area.
Special feature of this system is the asymmetric support tower near the top station. This particular form is necessary to provide the required distance between the ropes in the big span over the dam.
The system is designed so that there is no need for a rescue system ("integrated recovery"). All the bearings of the bullwheels are made redundant. So that in case of a main bearing failure, an auxiliary bearing is used. Even the emergency drives are designed with redundancy. These special measures make it possible that the carrier can always be moved safely to the bottom station even with major damages such as a gearbox failure or a broken axle in a bullwheel.
