Independent trade unionists for the first time on Wednesday (11/12) backed swelling street protests in Belgrade calling on Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic to restore cancelled local election results.
More than 200 representatives from unions were among thousands of students and other protestors who took to the streets of Serbia's capital, reinforcing for the 23rd day running the opposition Together coalition's demand for acceptance of the poll's results, which gave the opposition control of the Belgrade city council and 15 out of 18 major Serbian towns.
