Hey, it’s Matt with Midwest Guns and Gear. Today I’m bringing another 80s flashback out of the vault: the Kimmel AP9, also known as the AA Arms AP9.
This pistol came out in 1988, riding the wave of Tech-9 / KG-99 style firearms that became iconic in movies, TV shows, and 80s/90s pop culture. While it looks like the infamous Tec-9, it has its quirks — from a plastic lower to its own unique magazine pattern.
Specs of this one:
9mm caliber
5-inch barrel (target versions had 11–12" barrels)
Made until 1994, when the Assault Weapons Ban ended production
Fun but front-heavy design with some reliability quirks
