Do you have the Amex Platinum Card? If so, you probably value Amex Membership Rewards points for travel as well as airport lounge access from Priority Pass, the Amex Centurion Lounge, the Delta Sky Club, and more. However, the annual fee is $695, which can be a steep price to pay. One great alternative is the Chase Sapphire Reserve. For a lower fee of $550, you still get some of the great travel benefits, including an arguably better rewards structure that earns Chase Ultimate Rewards points. Another alternative is the Capital One Venture X at $395 per year, earning Capital One Venture Miles.

The Amex Gold Card is one of the best cards for food, both at restaurants and U.S. supermarkets. However, the Capital One Savor Card is nearly just as good and has a $0 annual fee (the Amex Gold Card is currently at $325). It has a bunch of 3% categories like dining, grocery stores, and entertainment, and you can even convert your cash back into Venture Miles if you have an eligible card to pair it with (including the Capital One VentureOne, Venture, or Venture X cards).

The Amex Green Card ($150) can be easily replaced with the Wells Fargo Autograph card ($0). Many of the 3X reward categories overlap, and now that Wells Fargo launched its own transfer partner program, the decision is easier than ever.

Finally, the Amex Blue Business Plus ($0) can be replaced with virtually any 2% cash back card, especially those that earn points that can be used for either cash back or travel. Examples include the Citi Double Cash card (earning Citi ThankYou points) and the Wells Fargo Active Cash card (earning cash back but convertible to points if you pair it with the likes of the Wells Fargo Autograph or Autograph Journey).
