Bioremediation means the treatment of waste area/infection through naturally occurring bacteria, fungi, protists and microorganisms. There are many sub types of Bio remediation like Phytoremediation, rhizofiltration, biostimulation, bioaugmentation, landfarming, composting etc.

The Insitu Bioremediation and exsitu remediation have also been discussed. The bioremediation technique are not very useful in treatment of heavy metal pollution like cadium and lead pollution.
