We are honored to have as our guest, Dr. Elisabeth "Eli" Sheff, PhD, one of the handful of global experts on polyamory and international expert on children in polyamorous families. She has a PhD in sociology, has studied sex and gender minority families for over 30 years, and has written multiple books on polyamory. She also provides relationship coaching and serves as an expert witness in court cases related to child custody, non-monogamy, and polyamory. She talks with Equilibria therapist, Kevin Fillipelli, MS, NCC, LPC, about relationship diversity, polyamorous families, and the importance of effective communication. They also discuss the court trends in child custody and her findings from a longitudinal study on the impacts on kids from polyamorous families and whether they experience any more increased mental health issues in comparison to any other kids from non-polyamorous families (e.g. parents in a monogamous relationship, biological parents who were never married or been divorced, separated, or widowed).
