English tenses are often a big issue and point of confusion for English learners, but they shouldn’t be! Once you understand WHEN and HOW to use a specific tense, you’ll be able to immediately improve your English accuracy and fluency. One of the most common tenses we use is past simple, so being confident using that tense will make you a better English speaker.

Whether you went to the cinema last weekend, ate a delicious meal with your family last night or bought some awesome new clothes yesterday, past simple tense is our go-to way to let people know what we did, or what happened. Past simple tense is used when referring to something that was done once in the past at a specific moment, but is now completed. As with all tenses, there is some structure to remember, and you’ll also need to be confident on your different verb forms, but apart from that past simple is actually one of (if not the most) straightforward tenses we use.

By the end of this lesson you’ll be able to use the affirmative form, negative form and be able to ask questions with the interrogative form; let’s get to work!
