The Course Approval Form for Study Abroad

Course Approval Process:
1. Speak with your academic advisor to identify which degree requirements you should fulfill during your term abroad.
2. Search for courses in the institution abroad's course catalog. You can also use the Transfer Credit Database to see which courses have been transferred back in the past.
Note - Courses with ** in the title do not have direct equivalents at NC State, but rather fulfill a general requirement. For example, a course listed as PS 3** would fulfill a 300-level requirement in Political Science. TR *** indicates general transfer credit.
3. Complete your course approval form, including backup options in case you cannot your first choice courses.
4. Send the form to your approvers listed on the Study Abroad Contacts page of the form. Major courses require departmental, then college approval. GEPs and free electives only require college approval. Send course descriptions for any courses not in the Transfer Credit Database.
5. Send your completed form with signatures to the Study Abroad Office. Be sure to submit your form by no later than 5pm on the day of the deadline so it can be marked as received in your application. You will not be able to submit your application until the course approval form has been marked as received.
