Children got a hands-on introduction to Qatar’s maritime heritage at Old Doha Port, taking part in traditional fishing activities organised by the Nomas Center under the Ministry of Culture
The interactive program teaches youngsters essential sea skills, including wearing life jackets, reading weather conditions, and following safety rules.
Captain Jasim bin Ahmed bin Mohammed, head of the maritime section, said the initiative aims to pass down knowledge and traditions learned from previous generations.
Through practical exercises with nets, gargoor traps, and diving stories, the program helps connect the new generation to Qatar’s seafaring past.
