Fm Piano Chord | F Minor 3-note Chord (Triad) and how to do inversions of the chord.
From the chord symbol Fm we get this information:
F is the root note - The basis that gives name to the chord
Fm is a 3-note chord - a triad
Fm is a minor chord
Because Fm is a 3-note chord, a triad, it also has three different inversions. An inversion means that once you have found the 3 notes of your chord - it doesn’t matter which note is at the top of the chord, in the middle of the chord - or in the bottom of the chord. As long as you only use the same three notes - it’s still the same chord.
Fm Piano Chord - Root inversion (Root note at the bottom of the chord): F - Ab - C
Fm Piano Chord - 1st. inversion (Root note at the top of the chord): Ab - C - F
Fm Piano Chord - 2nd. inversion (Root note in the middle of the chord): C - F - Ab
Fm chord is the first chord of the F Minor Scale - Notes in the scale are:
F - G - Ab - Bb - C - Db - Eb - F
