Rahul Gandhi is the man of the moment. Congress party announced the election of the Gandhi scion as the new party president on Dec, 11th. He'll take over the mantle officially on Dec, 16th. Many believe that the Congress has played smart by declaring Rahul's elevation ahead of the announcement of the Gujarat poll results. While Congress may have smoothened RaGa's way to the top but clearly the challenges are far too many for the new president. Reorganisation of the party structure, reining in the regional straps, and more importantly, projecting himself as a rallying point for Non-BJP parties in the big battle versus Modi could prove to be difficult for the youngest president of India's Grand Old Party. The Rahul era in the Congress and what it means to Indian politics at large is what we are debating on this edition of India Development Debate.
