Hiking Three Ridges Trail | George Washington National Forest | Virginia

Описание: In this video we head up to the blue ridge parkway and park at reeds gap and hike the entirety of 13.5 miles three ridges trail to harpers creek then on to the Mau Har trail up the waterfalls along campbells creek back to the AT and back to reeds gap in one day. The trail has 4000 feet of elevation gain. Reeds gap is around 2600 feet, the high point along the trail is 3950 and drops down to 1700 feet at harpers creek and at the base of the Mau Har waterfalls. the AT has some very steep rocky sections both north and south bound and the Mau Har is a gradual climb until you get to the waterfalls. Once your up on the meadow the main climb starts where you climb 700 feet in a half mile till you make it back to the Maupin shelter.

Its a strenuous day to do the hike all at once but you are rewarded with some spectacular views, wildflowers, and waterfalls. There is plenty of camping at and around the shelters or in dispersed areas along the trail if you want to make it an overnight trip. There is clean water at harpers creek and along campbells creek, still need to use the proper filter but you can get water.
