I have found over the years, that the one ammonite people want to find when they first start out, is Hildoceras. A fantastic ammonite that can get fairly large and has a few sub species of its kind.
Usually you can find them anywhere from 2 to 4 inches. That’s about average. Then you break into the 5inch mark. That’s a good size. 6inches is where it starts to get harder. The bigger they are, the harder they get to find.
So imagine my reaction when I find this monster sized one. Very pleased is an understatement. Though the battle isn’t over. I still long for even bigger. Hopefully one day, with a bit of luck. I’ll make my dreams come true 😂🙏
