NOVECENTO/Nicolosi family is known in many countries of the word as, from 1997, they have been composing, arranging and producing music Cds distributed world wide, balancing a busy performance schedule with a thriving production company and studio. Novecento’s band members including siblings Lino, Pino, and Rossana Nicolosi, and Lino's wife Dora now is presenting Featuring.. a "best of" their carrier, where a consolidate chemistry, lot of experience and many musical ideas are joined with many guests such as: CHAKA KHAN, GINO VANNELLI, STING, BILLY COBHAM, MICHAEL BRECKER, STANLEY JORDAN, JEFF BERLIN, TOOTS THIELEMANS, DANNY GOTTLIEB, DAVE LIEBMAN, EDDIE GOMEZ, JOHN TROPEA, WAYNE DOCKERY, BILLY PRESTON, GUY BARKER JAN HAMMER, DOMINIC MILLER, MIKE LINDUP, GREGG KOFI BROWN.
In a period in which, very often, jazz addresses itself to pop music looking for new repertoire, Novecento choose the opposite path. A pop group with an elitist style but still liked very much by the public, Novecento show themselves, ever since the very beginning of their success, very close to and fond of Afro-American music. Their natural tendency towards black music brought them naturally to approach the world of jazz: sometimes embracing it completely, sometimes stopping just close to the border, but always with one precise idea: a sound and a characteristic style, a Jazz-Funky-Pop cross-over, well-balanced and elegant. To sum up: a nocturne album, balanced with important music influences and arrangements among jazz, soul, funky and international pop music, always far away from banalities or clichés.
Novecento:
Guitar: Lino Nicolosi
Bass: Rossana Nicolosi
Voice: Dora Nicolosi
Keyboards: Pino Nicolosi
Biography: During '80 and most all '90, Novecento had developed a wide reaching reputation for their style of instrumental fusion/pop. The band is still composed by the same musicians: three brothers, Lino on guitar, Pino on keyboards, Rossana on bass and Dora, Lino’s wife, as the lead singer.
Their carrier started when they were kids and, after their first big success dated 1984, they have spent many years in the charts in the whole Europe and among their songs one of their compositions had reached the 1° American chart position for many week: Call me Mr. Telephone sung by Cheyne.
Nowadays they are still working all together. During the 1997, they decided to dedicate themselves mainly to the record production, an activity that they have carried out while constantly touring in Italy and abroad.
Indeed it is important to explain that to Novecento belong the Italian label Nicolosi Productions with which they have produced plenty of interesting recordings with such musicians as Billy Preston, Gregg Brown, Stanley Jordan, Sting, Billy Cobham.
