This was a beautiful part of the Mountain Goats’ set where John Darnielle did a small solo set full of a couple of deep cuts from the ‘90s including “Transjordanian Blues” and “New Star Song”, but my favorite of the three was the unreleased (officially at least) fan favorite “You Were Cool”.
My dear friend Sara works as Artist Hospitality for entertainers that are performing in town. Knowing she was gonna be helping out and working with the Mountain Goats, I asked if she would ask John to play “You Were Cool”. I’m so grateful she did, because HE ACTUALLY PLAYED IT. I was OVER THE MOON when he started playing this.
Thank you so so SO SO much Sara, for this amazing moment!! Made me an even bigger Mountain Goats fan than I already was.
