Lewis Kaplan: On Students

Описание: "Never underestimate the intelligence and talent of young people."  This is a quote that I can really take away from my interview with Mr. Kaplan- it rings true in a way that I think often gets overlooked today.  Of course, this is a time of incredible divisiveness, but I think young people have risen to the particular challenges of their generation in a stunning way: they (we) have had to face the realities of now in a much harsher way than, perhaps, other generations before us.  And this shows its face in the arts, in business, in technology, in pure innovation.  Someone said to me yesterday, "Classical music is dying!  We have to save it- it's all this, this- rock'n'roll!"

I am, politely, begging to differ.  Classical music is alive perhaps now more than ever- just the way we approach it, or listen to concerts, or make a living as musicians, is different.  

But anyway!  Mr. Kaplan got my ball rolling with his fantastic talk, today on the world of teaching, students, and young people.  He is an inspiration at the best of times, and this interview is no different.  So tune in, and see what he can teach you!
