Ford was bound and determined to establish a presence on the track. Here's a replica of one of the 100 Thunderbolts that they produced. Each original had a 427 engine from the Galaxie and a Borg Warner automatic.
I'm including a reference to an original Thunderbolt that came up for auction a few years ago, with a transplanted 4 speed.
