► The Sakura Shinkansen is running at 320 km/h between Hakata and Kagoshima-Chuo terminal - operated by JR Kyushu and JR West together.
It's more or less the same type of Shinkansen as the ones most visitors to Japan know as the Tokaido Shinkansen, running from Tokyo to Shin-Osaka and Hakata, with the exception of the Sakura Shinkansen being light blue instead of white, and the seat configuration is much more comfortable, offering a 2+2 seating, instead of the slightly crammed 2+3 of the Tokaido Shinkansen.
Here's a little round-up, of my recent Hakata to Kagoshima trip.
