Описание: Taiwan commissions first 10,000-ton Yushan-class landing platform dock
The Republic of China Navy (ROCN) has put into service its first 10,000-ton Yushan-class landing platform dock (LPD), which was developed and manufactured in China. R O C N Yushan (LPD-1401), the warship, was officially commissioned on June 19, 2023, in Kaohsiung. According to the R O C N's Deputy Commander, Vice Admiral Tang Hua, the ship was named after Mount Yushan, Taiwan's tallest mountain, and represents the ROCN's efforts in seeking excellence and standing at the forefront of the country's defense.
The new ship will be utilized for amphibious warfare operations and support of its offshore islands, as well as logistics support and transport, including disaster relief and international humanitarian rescue missions in the aftermath of natural catastrophes. The ship was manufactured under a contract worth NT$4.635 billion (US$163 million) and is scheduled to be launched in 2021. It was delivered to the ROCN in September 2022 by its builders, China Shipbuilding Corporation (CSBC). It is 153 meters long with a maximum beam of 23 meters, weighs 10,600 tons, and has a maximum range of 7,000 nautical miles. It can go at a top speed of 22.1 knots.
It's equipped with an Oto Melara Mk. A 75-76mm naval gun in the front position. two Mk 15 Phalanx close-in armament systems, and two missile launchers capable of firing a total of 32 TC-2N Tien, Chien II surface-to-air missiles are all on board. It can also be outfitted with missile launchers capable of launching up to 16 Hsiung Feng II anti-ship cruise missiles. Aside from carrying tanks and amphibious assault vehicles, the ship has medical amenities, including a negative-pressure isolation room, allowing it to be utilized for medical and humanitarian purposes. Taiwan intends to build four ships of this type.
YUshan-class ships have a length of 153 meters (502 feet), a beam of 23 meters (75 feet), and a normal displacement of 10,000 tons (9,800 long tons). The class has a draught of 6.1 meters (20 feet), a maximum speed of 21 knots (39 kilometers per hour), and a range of 7,000 miles (11,000 kilometers). The ships can transport six AAV7 amphibious APCs as well as 673 personnel. The ship also features a single flight deck with two hangars for Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk or Navy Sikorsky SH-60 Seahawk helicopters.
It also has radar signature reduction and electromagnetic pulse shielding. The class is designed to serve as a command ship for amphibious operations, a mothership for the ROCN's light minelayers, and a general logistics transport capable of servicing islands without harbor facilities.
The Yushan class is designed to keep the inventory of the ROCN's ground platform docks at two ships up-to-date. The class's lead ship will fill the hole left by the retirement of the ROCS Chung Cheng (originally USS Comstock), while a second ship is scheduled to replace the ROCS Hsu Hai (formerly USS Pensacola), which has served in the Republic of China Navy since 1999.Design work began in early 2015 and was completed on May 15, 2016. The keel of the lead vessel was laid in June 2020 [8]. Yushan was launched in April 2021, with President Tsai Ing-wen and Defense Minister Chiu Kuo-cheng in attendance. President Tsai called the ship a "milestone" in Taiwan's path to navy construction self-sufficiency.
Yushan, the class's first ship, began sea trials on July 7, 2022. The ship was delivered on September 30, 2022, by CSBC Corporation, Taiwan. Yushan was commissioned in June 2023.
