Mortgage rates are official below 6% for the fist time since 2023, they are now at 5.99%!

We finally got our first week with mortgage rates at or below 6%, but now we’ve got the new variable of a war with Iran.

Is this conflict going to send mortgage rates lower or higher as we head into the spring selling season? We’ll discuss in a minute.

Nationally, pending home sales saw a big jump this week, while housing inventory fell by nearly 10,000 homes, partially because we also had a decline in new listings.

Here locally, Dallas county saw its highest number of both closings AND new contacts, while Collin county saw an DEcrease in both new listings and new contracts.

The spring market is coming up fast when there are going to be a lot more buyers in the market looking at the same houses you are, especially now that mortgage rates are nearly a full 1% lower than last year.
