WORCESTER: Vogue Worcester returned to the Worcester PopUp! (JMAC) on Franklin Street as dancers with all different skill levels participated in a workshop instructed by HBO Max's "Legendary" season one contestant from the House of Escada, London Fleur De Lis, who covered everything from the five elements of vogue (Catwalk, Hands, Spins and Dips, Duckwalks, and Floor Performance) to a choreographed routine.
London Fleur De Lis, a native of Springfield, did not break his stride as he swapped a pair of sneakers out for thigh-high, high heel boots to impart his vogueing wisdom to a class just large enough to be accommodated by Worcester PopUp!'s Franklin Street space. Some of the students picked up the moves right away while others had to fall a couple of times, especially during the more challenging Duckwalk, but the common result was most had fun.
Vogue got its start within the black and Latino LGBT ballroom community of New York City as dancers would mimic the hand gestures and movements of the famous magazine's runway models. It reached the pinnacle of its popularity after Madonna's 1990 hit song "Vogue" and is currently experiencing a resurgence in popularity due in part to the FX series "Pose" and an increasing acceptance of gay culture.
