Where else can you find upside-down 18 wheelers and tornadoes inside a mall? How about a restaurant made of storage containers? Curious about what there is to do in Las Vegas outside the strip? We asked and found these 10 Las Vegas hidden gems to share with you! In our quest to find hidden gems, we searched out the birthplace of Las Vegas and learned the meaning of its name. Do you know what it is and why? We didn't and were in for a big surprise. Traveling to and from some of the hidden gems took us through the touristy areas on the Las Vegas strip and Freemont Street. Speaking of Freemont Street, were you aware of its very humble beginnings? We found everything from historic buildings to a mechanical, fire breathing praying mantis. We walked, shopped, watched, ate and smelled our way through 10 hidden gems we're so glad we found and are happy to share with you. In most cases, you can visit these gems both day and night to gain different perspectives. This was not our first time to Las Vegas and we'd spent previous visits walking the Strip at night (for the beautiful neon lights) and high-energy Freemont Street. We wanted something more on this trip. You know what they say, if you want to see the best stuff, you have to go where the locals go. In our quest to find hidden gems, we asked Las Vegas locals who routinely recommended several of the 10 hidden gems on our list. We hope you enjoy them too! And just a hint.... number two has ties to the *Mob** - be careful {wink}! There is so much to see in Las Vegas both day and night! Bring your walking shoes and be prepared to be amazed and surprised and remember - it's legal in Vegas!
