On 7 November 2024, Vanessa Dodoo presented their breakthrough idea, Breaking the Wall of Post Harvest Losses, at the Falling Walls Lab Finale during the Falling Walls Science Summit 2024 in Berlin.
Vanessa Dodoo is addressing high post-harvest grain losses due to molding among small and medium farmers in Ghana. She has developed a mobile mechanical dryer to provide affordable drying services, aiming to reduce losses, maintain grain quality, and increase farmers' income. The project seeks to combat post-harvest losses and improve the grain value chain in West Africa.
