What are Causes of Mental illness? Mental disorder is the disorder of the mind.
Mind is the overall functions of the brain.
Functions are controlled and maintained by a balance of elements, molecules, chemicals and neurotransmitters or the receptors for these neurochemicals.
Some toxic substances cross to the brain.

Substances soluble in lipids like cannabis

Psychological
Social.
Predisposing, Precipitating and Perpetuating factor. Genetic – mental disorders runs in the family – due to some gene defects either in the structural differences or functional changes - chemicals or enzymes are not produced or not correct amount.
Family history of mental illness.
Mother using alcohol or illicit drugs that affect the brain functioning.
Sense organs defect from birth or early life.
Previous history of mental illness.
having a long-term physical health condition, asthma, epilepsy, food intolerances, etc.
physical causes – for example, a head injury or a neurological condition such as epilepsy can have an impact on your behaviour and mood. (It's important to rule out potential physical causes before seeking further treatment for a mental health problem).
Damage in utero during pregnancy – not enough blood supply, oxygen supply or at time of birth or after birth.
Food intolerances or allergies or vitamin deficiencies.

Too much serotonin – can cause serotonin syndrome, excessive sweating, tremors. Other NeurotransmittersImbalance of any chemicals in brain, or their receptors
