Taking stock of Place Based Policies

Описание: Since 2021, through the American Rescue Plan, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Inflation Reduction Act, and the CHIPS and Science Act, the Department of Commerce has stood landmark new programs, representing billions in place-based investments spanning across the United States. Unprecedented in the Department’s history, these investments aim to advance U.S. competitiveness and national security by ensuring the technologies of the future are invented and manufactured in America, help struggling communities rebuild their economies and grow quality jobs and ensure all Americans can access the good jobs of the future. In this session, senior Commerce officials will join Professor Gordon Hanson and the Reimagining the Economy Project at the Harvard Kennedy School to discuss learnings from the Department’s place-based investments to date and implications for the future of economic development and industrial policy.
