This is a Mini-Documentary about my journey to one of the remote indigenous villages in Guinea, West Africa. Together with Bintou Camara, research student at Harvard University about Guinea's indigenous knowledge systems, we traveled 10hours from the capital Conakry to visit this little village.
The secret society is a group of women, both healers and leaders of their communities. A key part of their belief system are their "spirit"-figures, that are usually hidden in the forest and just revealed to very special occasions.
Their spirits represent their ancestors and through dance and music a state of connection is created, where the living and the dead celebrate their cultural identity together.
