"Mucho se afana siempre Santa María por honrar a los suyos."

Y de esto quiero contaros un gran milagro, que quiso mostrar la Virgen sin par, en la ciudad de Pavía.
Hubo allí un clérigo sabedor de todo bien y servidor, cuanto más podía, de esta gloriosa Señora.

En honrar a los suyos tiene siempre gran placer Santa María.

Por donde, sucedió que, después de morir el obispo de allí, la Virgen que nos guía se apareció a un hombre santo.

A los suyos honró y elevó siempre Santa María.

Y cuando se le apareció comenzó a hablarle así:
"Vete, y di que hagan elegir mañana, día señalado, a los suyos siempre hace Santa María que sean honrados por obispo a uno que es llamado Jerónimo, porque sé Yo cómo me sirve y me ha servido bien, como me agradaba."

A los suyos honrará siempre Santa María.

Luego que el hombre santo se despertó, le contó al cabildo que la Virgen le había dado el nombre del que quería por obispo.

Mucho se afanó siempre Santa María por honrar a los suyos.

Puestos de acuerdo, unánimes, hicieron su elección y fue obispo, al poco tiempo, el que lo merecía.

A los suyos honró siempre con gran razón Santa María.










How Holy Mary commanded them to promote to bishop the priest who said
his hours.

"Holy Mary always strives to honor Her faithful."

Concerning this, I wish to tell you of a great miracle which the Peerless Virgin
performed in the city of Pavia.

There was there a wise and virtuous priest who served this Glorious Lady to
the best of his ability.

Holy Mary always takes pleasure in honoring Her own.

It chanced that when the bishop of that place died, the Virgin who guides us
appeared to a holy man.

Holy Mary has always honored and elevated Her own.

When She appeared to him, She began to speak to him thus: "Go, tell them
to elect tomorrow,"
(because Holy Mary always pays honor to her faithful),
"as bishop a man whose name is Jerónimo, for I can recommend him since he
serves and has always served me well in the way which is pleasing to me."

Holy Mary honors and will forever honor Her own.

When the holy man awoke, he informed the cathedral chapter of the one the
Virgin mentioned to him whom She wanted as bishop.

Holy Mary has always striven to show great honor to Her faithful.

Agreeing unanimously, they made him their choice, and he soon was bishop,
for he well deserved it.

Holy Mary always rightfully has honored Her faithful.
