"The pumpkins have really thrived in this weather. So as long as they have enough moisture, having the heat has been absolutely ideal for them. They grow really quickly and get much bigger. And then also they ripen a bit earlier in the season. So normally our pumpkins would probably ripen by the middle to end of October, but this year they've been ready for about a couple of weeks already."

"Because of climate change, we get these much more mild autumns into early winter, which means we can really push the boundaries with what we grow. So, like stuff that we would have stopped sowing historically in sort of July time, we now sow into August, maybe even September. And we're cropping things like lettuce now up until Christmas time, even into January here."

"Yeah pumpkins are brilliant for storing. So, if we harvest them and we harvest them correctly - so taking a little bit of the stem when you take it away - then you can actually take them off to cure them. So somewhere nice and warm with lots of, well, mostly warm, really, and dry. And the skins get cured and then actually it means you can store pumpkins for usually about five months or so."

"Apples have been fantastic as well. Again with the apples it's probably because we had quite a wet season last year. So they've put on a lot of really strong growth. And the fruiting buds that they formed got very strong at the end of last season, which has given us a lot of apples this year."

"Part of the attraction for Howard and Vita when they moved here was that it was already set in farmland. They had a very close attachment to the Kentish Weald and they liked being amongst rural activity and they continued that and we are continuing it today. We have, I think it may be one of the first organic gardens within the National Trust and the pumpkins, vegetable garden are part of that."
