The first step is to ditch your leash. Inside your home, grab several yummy treats and your dog. Walk around your home and wait for your dog to come near you. When he does, toss a treat by your feet.
Tossing treats by your feet forces your dog to stay with you. Practice doing this and, eventually, your dog will learn that being next to you or hanging out with you is fun.
