WHAT
Probably Trieste is the most cosmopolitan cities in Italy: with its characteristic mix of languages, peoples and religions, the city merges Central European and Mediterranean souls.
You can consider Trieste as “the little Vienna on the sea”.
The heart of the city is Piazza dell’Unità d’Italia. The buildings around are wonderful, but the most spectacular side of the square is the one facing the sea.
Almost the entire coastline next to Trieste is occupied by the port, which is still the busiest in the Mediterranean.
Located in the heart of the historic old town, Grand Canal is a small waterway to allow boats direct access into the city centre.
The Roman Amphitheater dates back to the 1st Century AD.
Located next to Trieste Cathedral, the Castle of Saint Giusto, was built in the 15th century by the Hapsburgs.
Molo Audace is a fascinating promenade to admire the coastal view.
