Man shot by Saratoga Springs officer faces lifelong lung injuries

Описание: A man shot by a Saratoga Springs police officer during a traffic stop in 2024 is still suffering long-term health effects, and his attorney says criminal charges against the officer are expected.

The Utah County Attorney’s Office has already determined the shooting was not justified.

The officer involved, Dean Sekona, is no longer employed by the Saratoga Springs Police Department.

Attorney David Francis represents 43-year-old Gabriel Cota, who was shot in the lung during the incident. “He’s going to have issues with the scarring and functionality of his lung for the rest of his life,” Francis said.
