But the story of the Kadett did not end when Opel replaced it with the Astra in the early 1990s.
Instead, the car began a second life - first in South Korea, where it was produced by Daewoo, and later in Uzbekistan, where the model evolved into the well-known Daewoo Nexia.
What started as a German family car eventually became one of the most popular foreign cars across Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. In some markets, the platform remained in production for more than 30 years.
