Disneyland - Disney California Adventure Food on Pixar Pier, The Plaza Inn, and Red Rose Tavern
Visiting Disney California Adventure and Disneyland at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. Vlog or Blog?? I’m at Disneyland eating some good food and letting you know what I think. Is the food good, yes, it is.
Pixar Pier and Paradise Gardens Park are themed lands located at Disney California Adventure, based on that of Victorian boardwalks that were once found along the coast of California. Despite its name and the presence of a nearby man-made lake, Pixar Pier is not actually a pier, but a waterside area of the park. Incredicoaster sprawls across much of the area, with various other attractions and forms of entertainment scattered around it.
The area opened as Paradise Pier in 2001 along with the rest of the theme park. A new attraction, Toy Story Midway Mania!, opened on June 17, 2008. The attraction was the first in a series of theming upgrades to the land and park as a whole. This was followed by changes to the Sun Wheel to become Mickey's Fun Wheel, removing the ears of the Mickey head behind California Screamin’s vertical loop, and new Games of the Boardwalk in 2009. In 2010, World of Color and Silly Symphony Swings were added. To complete the Paradise Pier makeover, Disney opened Goofy's Sky School and The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Undersea Adventure.
Part of Paradise Pier was reimagined as Pixar Pier, which opened on June 23, 2018.The area that includes Paradise Gardens, Goofy’s Sky School, Silly Symphony Swings, Jumpin' Jellyfish, Golden Zephyr, and The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Undersea Adventure was renamed Paradise Gardens Park.
On June 23, 2018, part of Paradise Pier reopened as Pixar Pier, inspired by films from Pixar Animation Studios. California Screamin' became the Incredicoaster, Mickey's Fun Wheel opened as the Pixar Pal-A-Round, with Pixar characters on its gondolas, and Jessie's Critter Carousel opened in 2019 taking the place of King Triton's carousel. The Maliboomer closed in 2010 and was replaced by the Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind attraction in 2019.

Walt Disney’s Favorite restaurant The Plaza Inn
Plaza Inn
Casual Fare, Opulent Backdrop
Dine on home-style favorites in a lavish Victorian setting, one of the original landmarks of Disneyland Park. Drenched in dazzling décor, it’s no surprise that the Plaza Inn, which opened in 1955, was one of Walt Disney’s favorite places to dine.
It’s also become a go-to spot for many Guests over the years and when you taste the restaurant’s signature Specialty Chicken, you’ll understand why. This delicious dish features 3 pieces of herb-seasoned fried chicken served with mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables and a buttermilk biscuit. Slow-roasted pot roast and penne pasta with marinara, Bolognese or chicken pesto-Alfredo sauce present selections sure to please any palate.
Steeped in History and Elegance
The Plaza Inn, formerly known as the Red Wagon Inn, has been feeding hungry park Guests since opening day. Back then, a VIP lounge, wet bar and private bathroom accommodated Walt’s special Guests, and smartly jacketed doormen greeted diners at the entrance.
Designer Lillian Disney, Walt’s wife, handpicked many of the restaurant’s authentic 19th-century interior furnishings. Take note of the Victorian stained-glass ceiling, marble foyer and ornate gingerbread woodwork, which were all salvaged from an old home in Los Angeles’ historic St. James Park neighborhood.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! is an accelerated drop tower dark ride attraction at Disney California Adventure Park at the Disneyland Resort. Based on the Marvel Comics characters, it depicts Rocket Raccoon recruiting guests to attempt to free the remaining Guardians of the Galaxy from display within the Collector's fortress.
