The Dwarka Expressway, officially designated as National Highway 248-BB, is a transformative infrastructure project aimed at enhancing connectivity between Delhi and Gurugram. Here's an overview of its current status and significance:
---
🛣️ Project Overview
Length & Route: Spanning approximately 29 km, the expressway connects Shiv Murti near Mahipalpur in Delhi to the Kherki Daula Toll Plaza in Gurugram. It comprises 18.9 km in Haryana and 10.1 km in Delhi.
Design: India's first elevated 8-lane access-controlled expressway, featuring additional service lanes, underpasses, and a 3.6 km tunnel—the country's longest and widest road tunnel.
Purpose: Designed to decongest NH-48 and provide a seamless alternative route between Delhi and Gurugram, improving overall traffic flow in the National Capital Region.

🚧 Current Status (as of May 29, 2025)
Operational Sections: The 19 km stretch in Haryana was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2024 and is currently operational.
Delhi Section Trials: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated trial runs of the tunnel and underpasses on the Delhi section, operating daily between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM. These trials aim to assess traffic patterns and infrastructure efficiency, with full operations expected to commence by June 5, 2025.
Maintenance Updates: An underpass near Sector 102 in Gurugram underwent phased closures from May 22 to May 29, 2025, for urgent repairs addressing water seepage issues. The structure remains safe, with no reported structural damage.
