The Humber Bridge:
Spanning the Humber estuary between Hessle and Barton-upon-Humber, the Humber Bridge is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the United Kingdom. When it opened in 1981, it held the title of the longest single-span suspension bridge in the world—a record it maintained for 17 years.The bridge features two massive hollow reinforced concrete towers, each standing 155.5 meters (510 ft) tall.
Its central span measures 1,410 meters (4,626 ft). Interestingly, the towers are not parallel; due to the curvature of the earth, they are roughly 36 mm further apart at the top than at the bottom. #hull #humberbridge #yorkshire
