We've accidentally made a DIY fuzz box from old computer speakers.
This is not a fuzz pedal in a normal sense but it could be modified into one - put in a metal enclosure, change the switch and make a little adjustment so the signal passes through when not engaged. We don't use it as a fuzz, just tried it through a guitar amp and really liked the results.
Since we needed a stereo amplifier for the DIY oscilloscope made from an old CRT TV, we decided to modify some old pc speakers. That way we have two inputs and outputs and we can amplify the audio signal coming into the oscilloscope to make the visuals bigger.
If you have old computer speakers lying around, it's a very easy build, you just need jack sockets, soldering iron and a bit of patience if you suck at soldering. We do.
We will show you how it sounds with different instruments (drums, Teenage Engineering Pocket Operator PO-28 Robot, Toy Piano) and record a short song Couch Potato at the end using this DIY Fuzz on every track (PO-28, Bass, Toy Piano, Vocals). Recorded on Tascam 414 Portastudio cassette tape recorder.
