The bike smells rich when it's running so it is most likely the carbs. They have always been a problem! Perhaps I'm setting the float height wrong, but I do it the same way on other carbureted bikes and they work fine. The 10% alcohol in the fuel we have here actually makes the fuel very slightly more dense, so the floats are not sinking because of that. O-rings in carbs are all PTFE based, so no bypass flooding.
Love to solve the problem - fuel injection?? Hmm Tricky.
